ART38 – Positive Paper Dolls United We Stand

The Details:

Name: ART38 – Positive Paper Dolls United We Stand

Artist: Louise Kirby

Description:

Holding hands is the united symbol of love and support. We may not be able to hold hands with everyone in the world right now, but this design shows how we unite when faced with a crisis. The rows of paper dolls represent people coming together to show appreciation and gratitude to our key workers. The process of making the dolls – of cutting, folding and repeating represents the perseverance of our key workers showing up each day to work.

Louise Kirby is a designer and illustrator and her designs highlight the positives combining colour, playful pattern and meaningful imagery. Louise’s distinctive designs retain the hand-drawn qualities of wonky lines and brush marks. She graduated from DJCAD in 1999 with an honours degree in Printed Textiles and creates her own range of illustrated gift products and works to commission on bespoke artwork for the public realm, products and services.
