Name: ART39 – Florence
Artist: Sandra Webster
Born in Scotland, Sandra loves to incorporate tartan into her designs, with each pattern holding its own meaning and heritage. This particular tartan was created by students at the University of Edinburgh and incorporates the uniform colours worn by nurses, healthcare assistants and nursing students. The tartan is intended to symbolise ‘identity, kinship and solidarity for nurses’. Florence is named after Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, and celebrates the hard work of our nurses.
Sandra is a freelance artist currently working part time as a Staff Nurse for the NHS. Her spare hours are spent working on various projects and commissions, with a passion to help people in need by combining nursing and art. Her work has raised vital funds for various causes and charities through hospital exhibitions and taking part in a number of public art trails throughout the UK.
